My name is Shelly Silva and I’m Lead Editor at Roundtable Consulting. 

I was born and raised on Vancouver Island, in both Clayoquot Sound and Saanich. I’m currently writing from my home office on beautiful Salt Spring Island. This is where the magic of editing happens- well, magic, backed by a fair amount of education and experience. 

I have a degree in Journalism from Concordia University and more than twenty years of experience as a writer and editor, including News Writer and Producer at what is now CTV News Vancouver Island. 

With news writing, brevity and plain language are key, as there is a limited amount of time to tell a story that will land with the audience. I believe this carries over to business communications as well: it’s important to craft messages that are geared toward your target audience and are straight forward and easy to understand.

My natural tendency is to help others, and in my career, this means helping clients share their messages in the most effective way. This allows you, the client, the freedom to let your ideas flow, knowing that I can help clean up the language, grammar, and punctuation later.
