Debi lives and works on the traditional territory of the Lekwungen speaking peoples, known today as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nation (Victoria, BC).
Her background is in administration with ten years as Executive Assistant to a financial planner. She worked as an RDSP Navigator with the BC Aboriginal Network on Disabilities.
Debi was on the team that developed the Journey to Empowerment financial literacy curriculum for First Nations in 2014. She went on to deliver at most of the Gathering Our Voices Aboriginal Youth Conferences across the province since then. She also gave workshops to the staff at Victoria Native Friendship Centre at that time, and has delivered to a variety of programs since then.
Her more recent accomplishments include being part of a team that offered Journey to Empowerment and Train-the-Trainer via Zoom. She has recently accepted a part-time position as Data Collector with First Nations Health Authority.
Debi raised four daughters as a single mom and is now proud grandmother to ten grandchildren. When she has time off she enjoys gardening, paddling, hiking and exploring Victoria on her e-bike.
